Farm fresh and neighbor approved

For the second year, the Food Bank is participating in the Boundless Collective – a partnership with other Bay Area food banks to purchase fresh vegetables directly from small, local farms.

By working together we’re able to bring fresh, healthy  produce to our neighbors and support our local food system and farmers.

This year, we were able to special order Roma tomatoes from our farm partners, along with Anaheim peppers and poblanos. Romas are the tomato of choice for many of the cultures we serve in Contra Costa and Solano Counties – meaning these tomatoes will easily find a place in many of our neighbors’ favorite dishes.

Check out this recent delivery of farm-fresh produce, made possible by supporters like you.

Looking ahead, we’re exploring new ways to partner directly with farmers to grow crops that better reflect the diverse needs and preferences of our neighbors in Contra Costa and Solano Counties.

It’s not just about getting more food into our warehouses. It’s about asking, “What food do our neighbors actually want and need?”

Fresh food. Local farms. Stronger communities.

When you support the food bank, you support farmers too. Join us with a gift today and put more fresh, healthy food on our neighbors’ tables
