STRATEGIC PLAN 2030

For 50 years, supporters like you have allowed the Food Bank to grow and adapt, to meet the challenges of the day. As we mark five decades of service to our community, we’re not only reflecting on the past – we’re working with our community to ensure the Food Bank is ready for another 50 years of fighting hunger.

Our new Strategic Plan 2030 was developed in partnership with our neighbors in need, our hunger-fighting agency partners, our staff, and our Board of directors. It’s built for our community, by our community, to ensure your support continues to make a real impact in the fight against hunger.

Evolving with our Community

From the Loma Pietra Earthquake to the COVID pandemic and beyond the Food Bank has grown and adapted to meet every challenge facing our community over the past 50 years.

As we evolve and adapt again, Strategic Plan 2030 is our roadmap to meet the real challenges facing our neighbors today, and create a stronger, more stable community for all. Over the next five years we’ll bring local nonprofits, businesses, and community leaders to the table to build solutions that go beyond food, to tackle the root causes of hunger. Our goal is to be a hub for our community, connecting our neighbors to the resources they need for long-term stability.

Our Core Strategies

Neighbors First

Connect directly with our neighbors to better understand and address the barriers to food they face, including dietary restrictions, mobility, homelessness, and cultural differences. Ensure our neighbors have a choice in what they eat, are able to access nutrition quickly, and have a dignified experience receiving our services.

Sustainable Nutrition

Build on our work to increase the amount of healthy, locally grown and culturally inclusive food available to our neighbors. Continue to reduce our environmental impact through our grocery recovery program, and by diverting inedible food waste away from landfills.

More than Meals

Work with our neighbors to understand their needs beyond food. Address the underlying reasons people face hunger by building a network of expert partners who can link our neighbors to the tools and resources they want and need for long-term stability.
