Meet our Valentines

A Valentine's card with three women hold signs that say "because I can," "because we care," "because we have time."

As a member of our hunger fighting family, you are the thread that strengthens our community. You and every one of our donors, volunteers, corporate partners, community advocates and 260+ partner agencies weave a safety net of support for our neighbors in need.

Your kindness and generosity allows us to be there when our community needs us most. Our hearts are full because of you!

Below, meet the hunger fighters who lent their faces to our Valentine’s Day card and learn how – and why – each of them helps to strengthen our community alongside you:

Anita Miller
Corporate Partner since 2003, Chevron Corporation

“Chevron invests in our communities. We support programs that promote self-sufficiency, education, job growth and economic development, such as the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.
“We are committed to the health and well-being of the communities where we live and operate and have been partnering with the East Bay food banks for over 20 years. Our contributions will continue to fight hunger and provide reliable and nutritious food to people in need.
“We are most proud of our 500 Chevron employees who spent over 1000 hours volunteering. It is truly an honor to be able to give back to our community in this way.”

Dorothy Coker
Volunteer since 2021 – over 200 hours served

“I volunteer so that I can lead by example and inspire my students to build a strong community and better world for the next generation.”

Dawn Manley
Monthly donor since 2022

“It is important to me to actively participate in the well-being of my community. I choose to make a monthly monetary donation because consistent support ensures that the Food Bank can continue to provide food assistance programs, as well as build and develop new programs that serve our community now, and into the future.”

What inspires you to strengthen our community?

If you have a story of support we’d love to hear it. Email dmanley@foodbankccs.org to share with us!
