As part of the annual Community Service Day on September 27, Pleasant Hill residents are encouraged to drop off donated food items at two locations.

Community Service Day is an annual opportunity for Pleasant Hill residents to come together and work on submitted projects such as creek cleanups and more. Each year, the City partners with the Food Bank of Contra Costa / Solano and Central Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCCTA) – County Connection to hold a food drive to benefit needy families. This year, the locations where items can be dropped off are:

Fill the Bus:  From 7:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. donations will be accepted at a County Connection Bus parked at the corner of Cleaveland Rd. and Gregory Lane, near Pleasant Hill Park.

Stuff the Cruiser: From 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. officers from the Pleasant Hill Police Department will be at Grocery Outlet (1671 Contra Costa Blvd) to fill a cruiser with donated items.

Items Sought for Donation (NO GLASS, PLEASE!):

  • Natural Peanut Butter
  • Canned Tuna and Chicken in Water
  • Beans and Lentils (dry or canned)
  • Rice
  • Pasta
  • Whole Grain Cereals
  • Low-Sodium Canned Vegetables
  • Canned Tomato Products
  • Hearty Low-Sodium Soups
  • Canned Fruit in Juice
  • Nonperishable Ready-to-Eat Meals (chili, ravioli, etc.)
