Join our network of cafes and restaurants for the inaugural Bite Back Hunger Restaurant Week as we celebrate Hunger Action Month and the 50th anniversary of the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

Event Participation FAQ
A one-week dining event during Hunger Action Month that encourages our community to dine out and “bite back” against local hunger! From September 24 to 30, 2025, participating restaurants will offer featured items, pre-fixe menus, or other special deals, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.
Restaurant donation methods include, but are not limited to the following:
- Special menus or menu items – a dollar amount or percentage of sales of selected item(s) result in an automatic donation to the Food Bank.
- Round-up campaign – each restaurant invites their diners to round up their bill (before tip), where the round up amount is donated to the Food Bank.
- Percentage of sales – each restaurant sets a specific percentage of total sales throughout the week as a donation to the Food Bank.
- Bounce backs – restaurants invite guests to add a set monetary donation to their bill. Diners receive a coupon or offer in exchange for the donation.
You can offer a special menu or menu items, donate a percentage of overall sales from the week, invite diners to round up their bill or add a set donation in exchange for a coupon – or create another special offer that’s right for you. All participating restaurants must commit to a minimum $500 donation.

We also ask restaurants to commit to promoting their participation in Restaurant Week in at least 2 or 3 of the following ways (pick what feels right for your business!):
- Post on social media accounts and tag @foodbankccs
- Promote event on your website.
- Advertise how to participate and the mission of the Food Bank on your menu.
- Advertise the mission of the Food Bank and your participation in Restaurant Week on tables.
- Create and promote a Virtual Food Drive to raise additional funds and awareness for the Food Bank.
- Use another prominent display or signage to promote how to participate in Restaurant Week and the mission of the Food Bank. (Must include Food Bank logo.)
- Train staff to share information about Restaurant Week and the Food Bank with each customer. For example, when sharing the specials, also share how to participate or support the Food Bank.
- Send an email to all of your subscribers to promote how to participate in Restaurant Week at your establishment.
