Event Participation FAQ
A one-week dining event during Hunger Action Month that encourages our community to dine out and “bite back” against local hunger! From September 24 to 30, participating restaurants will offer featured items, pre-fixe menus, or other special deals, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.
Restaurant donation methods include, but are not limited to the following:
- Special menus or menu items – a dollar amount or percentage of sales of selected item(s) result in an automatic donation to the Food Bank.
- Round-up campaign – each restaurant invites their diners to round up their bill (before tip), where the round up amount is donated to the Food Bank.
- Percentage of sales – each restaurant sets a specific percentage of total sales throughout the week as a donation to the Food Bank.
- Bounce backs – restaurants invite guests to add a set monetary donation to their bill. Diners receive a coupon or offer in exchange for the donation.
You can offer a special menu or menu items, donate a percentage of overall sales from the week, invite diners to round up their bill or add a set donation in exchange for a coupon – or create another special offer that’s right for you. All participating restaurants must commit to a minimum $500 donation.

Most of our support comes from individuals and community partners like you – and every $1 donated helps provide food for 2 meals for families, children and seniors.
