How you can help during this time of crisis

    March 30, 2020 By Guest

    Dear Food Bank Friend,

How are you holding up? We’re only about a week and a half into our mandated shelter in place, and we know that many people–including seniors living alone and working parents having to unexpectedly home-school their children–are feeling the stress of being confined. And understandably, many of us are worried about our health and the health of those we care about.

Here at the Food Bank, our phones are ringing off the hook with people who are now really feeling the impact of no longer having a paycheck coming in. It’s beginning to sink in that they don’t know where their next meals are coming from.

We have already seen a 50% increase in people attending some of our food distributions and we know that number is only going to climb. We are responding to this increased need by putting together an additional 3,000 emergency food boxes PER WEEK.

Every $20 you donate allows someone in need to receive a box of balanced nutritious food (see below for contents).

Unfortunately, our regular food suppliers have limited quantities, and we’ve been forced to use other vendors. Consequently, our cost of doing business has skyrocketed. (For example, we are having to pay 50% more for milk, eggs, cheese, and canned chicken.)

We want to be there for everyone finding themselves needing our services, but with both the demand and the cost of food going up, we need your help!

How many emergency food boxes can you sponsor to lessen the burden of others most affected by this health and financial crisis?

    In partnership,

    Kim Castaneda
    Development Director

Each emergency box includes 19 items including:

canned chicken | canned corn | green beans | peaches | peanut butter | rice | spaghetti

    beans | tomato paste | tomato sauce | tuna | cereal | shelf-stable milk
