In celebration of their 30th Anniversary Zachary’s Pizza will donate all profits of their T-shirts and baseball caps to local food banks through the end of 2013. Their actual anniversary is July 25, 2013 but when it comes to supporting their communities, they decided to really stretch out the celebration! November 1, 2013 Pay it Forward Hiring Event – Now through December 31, 2013
The Express Employment Professionals office in Concord will host a Pay it Forward Hiring Drive to put 100 unemployed individuals to work this holiday season. Join them in their effort to help put 100 people to work in our community in ten weeks bringing hope and encouragement to them and their families. Express will donate $10 for each associate put to work. If they meet their goal of 100 associates, Express will donate an additional $500 to our Food Bank. November 1, 2013 Counties Care Holiday Food Fight – Now through December 31, 2013
Contra Costa County and Solano County employees compete to see who can raise the most money for the Food Bank. Each year, the county bringing in the highest dollar amount per employee wins possession of the coveted “Big Apple” trophy.
November 1, 2013 Whole Foods Feed 4 More – Now through January 1, 2014
November 1, 2013 through January 1, 2014 you can help Feed 4 More at Whole Foods Market. Customers will have the option to buy a $5 Breakfast, $10 Lunch or Dinner, or $25 Full Day Meal for donation to their local food bank (Meals typically feed a family of four.) Customers may also round out an order and donate any dollar amount at the cash register. There will also be collection barrels available for your nonperishable food donations.

November 13, 2013 NBC/Safeway “Help Us End Hunger” Food Drive – Now through December 25, 2013
During this event, Safeway will offer the opportunity to purchase a $10 pre-packed bag of groceries, which will be donated to your local food bank. You pay for the pre-packaged bag of groceries and place the bag in one of our in-store barrels, and the Food Bank pick up the food each week. This is a quick, easy, inexpensive way to donate. On November 23, Kiwanis volunteers will be out in force at most Safeway stores in the Bay Area encouraging you to donate. Watch NBC Bay Area all day on the 23rd for food drive coverage. Help us in the battle against hunger, shop Safeway during the holidays and buy a bag of groceries for your local Food Bank. Tell your friends!
November 13, 2013 Holiday Shares at Lucky and FoodMaxx – Now through January 2, 2014
The Holidays are upon us again! Lucky and FoodMaxx supermarkets are hosting their annual Holiday Shares program. From November 13 through January 2, Lucky and FoodMaxx will be selling $5, $10, $15 and $20 icons at checkout as direct donations for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano Counties. As you know, for every dollar we receive, we are able to provide nine meals. While we love food donations—this case fundraiser provides us an even better opportunity to meet the needs of our community.
Last year the Food Bank raised $10,660 through this program at Lucky—and this year the program has been expanded to the FoodMaxx stores as well. Let’s see if we can double that this year!
November 18, 2013 Bank of America Matching Campaign – Now through January 10, 2014
For every $1 you donate, Bank of America will give $2 more to fight hunger.

- Donations can be made through www.feedingamerica.org/bankofamerica or www.bankofamerica.com/give.
- For every dollar a consumer donates, Bank of America will match 2:1.
- Consumers can choose to give to their local food bank (based on billing zip code) or to the Feeding America national office.
- $1,000 match cap per donor (one time only). BoA will only match a total of $1,000 — If an individual donates $500 on one day, and donates $700 another day, only $1,000 of the total will be matched.
- Foundations or companies donations will not be matched.
- Bank of America will distribute funds to the Feeding America national office sometime in March 2014. The Feeding America national office will then allocate funds to food banks according to the funds disbursement schedule.

This holiday season, Contra Costa Oncology has partnered with the Downtown Walnut Creek on Ice skating rink to help raise awareness for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. For every skating ticket that is collected at the rink, Contra Costa Oncology will make a donation to the Food Bank. The rink is open all through the holiday season, closing January 12. So come get your skate on and help fill a plate!
December 15, 2013 Sing For Your Supper “The World of Webber”
Esses Productions continues its Sing for Your Supper program to raise funds and awareness for our Food Bank with a Cabaret tribute to the songs of Andrew Lloyd Webber. “The World of Webber”, sponsored by Walnut Creek Honda, and contributing sponsorships by Lafayette Park Hotel and Skipolini’s Pizza, celebrates the songs and musicals of Broadway and Musical Theatre composer, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. This program is performed in an intimate Cabaret concert style by three outstanding singers with piano accompaniment. There will be a Family Matinee at 2:30pm at Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek. Tickets are $25-$30. Ready Or Not Improv will be at it again raising money for the Food Bank on Saturday, December 21st with their new show, “Santa, We’ve Been Bad”. Ready Or Not Improv performs its own special brand of spontaneous theater. Sometimes they are dramatic, sometimes humorous, but always entertaining. Charity Miles App for iPhone and Android
Turn your daily walk into meals for people we serve! Feeding America is one of 10 charities chosen to pilot Charity Miles, a free iPhone/Android app that empowers people to earn money for charity while walking, running or biking. Participants choose one of the app’s featured charities and hit the streets. The app will track the participant’s distance and they’ll earn money for their charity. Bikers earn 10¢ per mile; walkers and runners earn 25¢ per mile—all up to an initial $1,000,000 sponsorship pool.
Feeding America food banks will receive a portion of revenue generated by the Charity Miles app in their service area.

Ready, Set, Bag! Supports Local Food Banks
If you are not already a fan of the original web series Ready, Set, Bag! On blip.tv, it’s time to become one! From now until its official theatrical release in late summer, Ready, Set, Bag! is generously donating 100% of their advertising revenue to food banks around the country. Even after the Ready, Set, Bag! Documentary hits the theaters, $1.00 of each ticket and DVD sale will benefit the Food Bank!
Ready, Set, Bag! has already donated enough funds for over 15,000 meals as of July 26, 2012 and arranged for other online artists including JibJab, AutoTuneTheNews, Sarah Austin and Mike Relm to help create content and contribute to this overall effort to help fight hunger.

Pampered Chef’s Round-Up from the Heart®
The Pampered Chef’s Round-Up from the Heart® program is a year-long campaign that benefits Feeding America and its member food banks. Since 1991 Pampered Chef has raised over $20 million by promoting the campaign at cooking shows, and at in-home cooking demonstrations, across the country. It is truly a national campaign with a local impact as we fight hunger together!
The campaign has three aspects: 1) Customers can round up cooking show purchase totals to the nearest dollar or more, with funds benefiting local food banks in the region where the donations originated. 2) Customers can purchase a limited edition Round-Up from the Heart cork trivet. For every trivet sold, The Pampered Chef will contribute $2 to Feeding America to support national programs. 3) Customers can purchase The Pampered Chef Cookbook for a Cause Volume 3 featuring recipes from stars of popular TLC shows including Cake Boss, DC Cupcakes, Say Yes to the Dress, Kate Plus Eight and more. For each $3 cookbook sold, The Pampered Chef will donate $1 to Feeding America.

Doorstep Farmers is a new CSA (community supported agriculture) service located in Central Contra Costa County that delivers locally grown organic produce to your door weekly. As part of their commitment to help the local community, they developed the 2-1 Program, where the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano will receive one pound of locally grown produce for every two new supporters that subscribes to Doorstep Farmers. The Food Bank will distribute the donated produce to our local community in need.

Move to End Hunger
As you are aware, many people throw out a good deal of “stuff” when they move. Unfortunately a lot of this “stuff” is food that can be delivered to a family in need. That’s why Golden Gate Moving & Storage has teamed up with Move For Hunger to support the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.
