Photos for Food is a campaign that was started by Nathan Osmond of Life In Contrast Photography in an effort to give back to the communities that have supported him over the years. By booking a “Photos for Food” portrait session you can be sure to receive a beautiful set of family photos as well as knowing that you are helping those in need in our community. For every session booked (and shot) before 12/31/14, $150 will be donated to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. Whole Foods Market is once again partnering with KPIX CBS San Francisco Bay Area and its Food for Bay Area Families program to benefit Bay Area food banks and help feed families in need during the holidays. Donate nonperishable food items at your local market or purchase a “Pantry Builder” (monetary donations that go directly to your local food bank) at the register. November 5, 2014 NBC/Safeway "Help Us End Hunger" Food Drive – November 5-December 25
During this event, running from November 5th thru December 25th, Safeway will offer the opportunity to purchase a $10 pre-packed bag of groceries, which will be donated to your local food bank. You pay for the pre-packaged bag of groceries and place the bag in one of our in-store barrels, and the Food Bank pick up the food each week. This is a quick, easy, inexpensive way to donate. On November 22nd, Kiwanis volunteers will be out in force at most Safeway stores in the Bay Area encouraging you to donate. Watch NBC Bay Area all day on November 22nd for food drive coverage. Help us in the battle against hunger, shop Safeway during the holidays and buy a bag of groceries for your local Food Bank. Tell your friends!
November 11, 2014 Sprouts Farmers Market Grab 'N Give (Now thru December 31st)
Throughout the holiday season , Sprouts executes our annual Grab ‘n Give holiday food drive to help feed the hungry in our local communities. Shoppers have the opportunity to purchase and donate bags of groceries at a 10% discount. We then donate the bags to local food banks in the communities we serve.
November 18, 2014 Save Mart, Lucky and FoodMaxx Holiday Food Drive (Now thru January 2nd)
Now until January 2, 2015: Save Mart, Lucky and FoodMaxx Holiday Food Drive – The Save Mart family has launched this year’s holiday drive,
raising not only money for local food banks, but awareness about the unprecedented need for food security in our communities. At most Northern California food banks, a donation of $35 will provide a family of four one week’s
worth of meals. Understanding this, Save Mart will partner with shoppers to collect cash donations, allowing food banks to leverage the money to best meet community needs. Between now and January 2, 2015, shoppers can select a tag at checkout and directly donate to fund a meal for the local food bank: $2 for Breakfast, $3 for Lunch, $5 for Dinner.

Join ABC7 in helping feed the Bay Area’s hungry this holiday season! Text the word FEED to number 80077 to donate $10 to Bay Area food banks. December 1, 2014 Fentons Creamery Fundraiser, Vacaville (The entire month of December)
Come to Fentons Creamery in Vacaville, located at 1669 East Monte Vista Avenue in the Nut Tree Plaza, to try Myrtle’s Monthly Creation, “Peppermint Joy.” Fenton’s will donate 25% of the funds raised through these sales to the Food Bank. This delicious sundae consists of peppermint ice-cream, chocolate ice-cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, and diced almonds, topped with a cherry and peppermint bark that is made in-house. This holiday season, Contra Costa Oncology has, once again, partnered up with Walnut Creek on Ice to help raise awareness and funds for the Food Bank. For every ice skating ticket that is collected at the rink, Contra Costa Oncology will make a donation to the Food Bank. December 1, 2014 Counties Care Holiday Food Fight (Now thru December 31st)
For the 11th year, the employees of Solano and Contra Costa counties are engaging in a friendly competition to raise funds for the Food Bank. The county raising the most dollars per person wins bragging rights and possession of the coveted Big Apple trophy for one year. Solano County employees vow to retain the Big Apple trophy and to raise funds for the Food Bank while Contra Costa County employees vow to hit the $1 million dollar mark and win the Big Apple back! December 19, 2014 WestCAT Annual Stuff-A-Bus, Hercules (10AM-4:30PM)
The goal of this holiday drive is to fill the big decorated public transit WestCAT bus with both food AND toys for families in need. The food collected will go to the Food Bank. You can bring your non-perishable food and new unwrapped toys, between 10AM-4:30PM, to the Lucky’s parking lot, located at 1590 Sycamore Avenue in Hercules. Santa & Mrs. Claus will even be there to help spread holiday cheer. In order to tie this into the needs of the community, Solo Opera is pleased to be partnering with Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano for their two performances. Charity Miles App for iPhone and Android
Turn your daily walk into meals for people we serve! Feeding America is one of the charities to walk for using Charity Miles, a free iPhone/Android app that empowers people to earn money for charity while walking, running or biking. Participants choose one of the app’s featured charities and hit the streets. The app will track the participant’s distance and they’ll earn money for their charity. Bikers earn 10¢ per mile; walkers and runners earn 25¢ per mile—all up to an initial $1,000,000 sponsorship pool.
Feeding America food banks will receive a portion of revenue generated by the Charity Miles app in their service area.

Ready, Set, Bag! Supports Local Food Banks
If you are not already a fan of the original web series Ready, Set, Bag! On blip.tv, it’s time to become one! From now until its official theatrical release in late summer, Ready, Set, Bag! is generously donating 100% of their advertising revenue to food banks around the country. Even after the Ready, Set, Bag! Documentary hits the theaters, $1.00 of each ticket and DVD sale will benefit the Food Bank!

Pampered Chef’s Round-Up from the Heart®
The Pampered Chef’s Round-Up from the Heart® program is a year-long campaign that benefits Feeding America and its member food banks. Since 1991 Pampered Chef has raised over $20 million by promoting the campaign at cooking shows, and at in-home cooking demonstrations, across the country. It is truly a national campaign with a local impact as we fight hunger together!
The campaign has three aspects: 1) Customers can round up cooking show purchase totals to the nearest dollar or more, with funds benefiting local food banks in the region where the donations originated. 2) Customers can purchase a limited edition Round-Up from the Heart cork trivet. For every trivet sold, The Pampered Chef will contribute $2 to Feeding America to support national programs. 3) Customers can purchase The Pampered Chef Cookbook for a Cause Volume 3 featuring recipes from stars of popular TLC shows including Cake Boss, DC Cupcakes, Say Yes to the Dress, Kate Plus Eight and more. For each $3 cookbook sold, The Pampered Chef will donate $1 to Feeding America.

Doorstep Farmers is a new CSA (community supported agriculture) service located in Central Contra Costa County that delivers locally grown organic produce to your door weekly. As part of their commitment to help the local community, they developed the 2-1 Program, where the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano will receive one pound of locally grown produce for every two new supporters that subscribes to Doorstep Farmers. The Food Bank will distribute the donated produce to our local community in need.

As you are aware, many people throw out a good deal of “stuff” when they move. Unfortunately a lot of this “stuff” is food that can be delivered to a family in need. That’s why Golden Gate Moving & Storage has teamed up with Move For Hunger to support the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.
