An important volunteer role at the Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano is that of an advocate with a passion for our mission to fight hunger. Food Bank Ambassadors go out in the community to raise awareness and educate the public in four major areas:
- Public Speaking: Ambassadors talk to groups about hunger in our community and publicize the many ways people can get involved, as well as offer information about Food Bank programs and services to clients.
- Tabling: Ambassadors provide information on programs and services and build relationships with participants at health fairs, business expos, open houses and other community events.
- Special Events: Ambassadors greet and register guests, sell raffle tickets and network at special events such as Empty Bowls, Family Volunteer Day, and the Food Bank annual fundraiser.
- Chamber Networking: The Food Bank belongs to local Chamber of Commerce groups. At mixers and other Chamber events, Ambassadors network with local business leaders who are interested in learning more about the Food Bank.
