What Is Farm 2 Kids?
Through the Farm 2 Kids program the Food Bank provides additional food for children whose families cannot afford to keep food on the table. Every week, the Food Bank provides fresh produce to schools in Contra Costa and Solano counties in partnership with participating after school programs. Research shows that increased consumption of a variety of fruits and veggies over a lifetime reduces risk of chronic disease. Farm 2 Kids is an excellent way to get more produce out into a community that could really use it, since over 50% of the students in these schools are on school lunch programs.
