The B.I.T.E. Board

The B.I.T.E. Board (Board Influenced by Teen Example) of the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano is an organization created and run by teens, whose objective is to raise awareness of the problem of hunger in our society. The B.I.T.E. Board has done a lot to assist the Food Bank in their cause. Some of the projects the Board has put together include creating a new system for recycling paper and plastic bags and organizing Project Growl, through which unusable produce that would otherwise have to be thrown out gets distributed to the Oakland Zoo and a pig farm in Knightsen. The Teen Board also created a video that explains the sorting process to all new Food Bank volunteers, and has helped at a number of other special events affiliated with the Food Bank, such as the Refinery BBQ, the Walnut Festival, and Kidfest. B.I.T.E. continues to work towards fighting hunger in our community with new projects and ideas, but we rely on teens like you to help us in our cause.
